Campaign Story

On September 21st 2019 Luke Davis and Duncan Stripp, presenters on the award-winning local radio station Wycombe Sound, will attempt to break a massive Guinness World Record. They will be aiming to smash the current record for the “Longest Marathon for a Radio Music Show”, which currently stands at 106 hours 50 minutes, by doing a continuous broadcast for 120 hours.

They will be raising money for Wycombe Sound, YesWycombe and Child Bereavement UK

If you can help, by donating as much as you can, large or small, it would be greatly appreciated and help these great charities.

The attempt will start at 10 am on Saturday 21st September and end at 10 am on Thursday the 26th September. You will be able to tune in live on 106.6fm, on the website (wycombesound.org.uk) or via smart speaker.

YES Wycombe

Youth Enquiry Service is a local charity that provides free support, information and counselling to young people. We are a confidential and friendly service, based in the centre of town. You can visit us in our drop in, contact us through our website, or book an appointment. We can work with anyone who is over 13 and under 25 years old, no question or issue is too big or too small. We appreciate how hard it can be to open up to someone, so we are here to help you and will never judge. We like to think we are doing a good job as we’ve been supporting young people since 1982!

Everyone working in the drop in or counselling service is a volunteer. Some volunteers also do outreach work, and offer counselling in schools and colleges. We fundraising tirelessly all year round from plant sales to quiz nights as we receive no funding from local or central government. Any donations raised will be used to continue our work with young people. We estimate it costs £90 to open our agency for a day and evening, but we have 7 counselling rooms and plenty of room in the drop in so we can help dozens of people in a day. Last year our statistics show that through our counselling, drop in and website service we reached a total of 1,416 contacts. With your help we can continue this work and look to offering even more support to young people in High Wycombe.

Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals both when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, and when a child is facing bereavement. Every year we train more than 10,000 professionals, helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families.
