Wycombe Sound is delighted to announce that Mark Hobbs is to take the reins of the Breakfast Show three days a week.
Mark will wake up Wycombe every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7am starting on Tuesday 21st January. Each morning, he will keep you fully up to date with the latest news, traffic and travel to start your day and keep you entertained on the school run, or as you head to work.
Mark is a very familiar voice on Wycombe Sound since joining the station around 18 months ago. Initially presenting a Sunday lunchtime show, he switched to Drivetime in April last year following the departure of Luke Davis from that slot. Here, he quickly gained a reputation for a fun, high-energy show to keep Wycombe going at the end of the working day. Mark was also a finalist in the Young Volunteer of the Year category of the Community Radio Awards in 2024, recognising his dedication to Wycombe Sound and his huge impact on the station since joining the team.
Chris Phillips, who has presented Breakfast since July 2021, will switch with Mark to take on Drivetime on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. He will also continue to present the Friday afternoon show, which he has hosted since Wycombe Sound launched full-time in 2016, as well as the breakfast show on Mondays.
Nick Keir continues to present the Friday breakfast show, including the popular Funky Friday segment from 9am.
Wycombe Sound’s Programme Director, Luke Hashman, said:
I can’t wait to hear Mark take on the Wycombe Sound Breakfast Show. Last year, he quickly established himself as an integral part of our daytime line-up and I’m sure he will be up to the challenge of maintaining his infamous high energy levels first thing in the morning! He is guaranteed to keep you informed and entertained at the start of your mid-week mornings.
I must also thank Chris for the huge amount of dedication he has shown in presenting the breakfast show four days a week for three and a half years. I’m sure he will enjoy the lie-ins afforded to him by his switch to the Drivetime slot, where his loyal listeners will be waiting for him.
