Election 2024

Welcome to Wycombe Sound’s coverage of the 2024 UK General Election, focusing on the heart of High Wycombe & South Bucks.

As our community prepares to cast their votes, we’re committed to bringing you the most up-to-date and relevant information about the candidates and issues that matter most to you.

Wycombe Sound's Coverage

Wycombe Sound will be live from 10pm on Election Night after the polls have closed with coverage throughout the night all the way till breakfast. We will have presenters at the count in Stoke Mandeville, which will be the main count venue for the five constituencies in Buckinghamshire. The counts are expected to last through the night and into the following morning.

In the build-up to the election, to help you make an informed decision, Wycombe Sound has been host to hustings for the Wycombe, Beaconsfield and Mid Buckinghamshire constituencies, along with conducting individual interviews for the Wycombe candidates.

The Hustings

Wycombe Sound invited all candidates for the Wycombe, Beaconsfield and Mid Buckinghamshire constituencies to hustings at our studios in High Wycombe. These were recorded on Saturday 22 June and broadcast on Sunday 23 June. The vast majority of candidates were able to attend in person; those who advised that they were unable to attend were invited to submit written opening and closing statements, which were read on their behalf by the chair, Luke Hashman. The recordings for these hustings are available here for you to listen back on demand, to enable as many local voters as possible to make an informed choice on 4 July.

Chesham and Amersham
While we attempted to arrange a hustings for the Chesham & Amersham constituency, the candidates are working together as a group to facilitate only dates when they can all be available. This proved unsuccessful after numerous attempts.

1:1 Interviews

To help you get to know your candidates in more detail, they have each given an individual 30-minute interview with Colin Besley. These aired on the evenings of Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 June, you can hear them on demand below.
